I have been writing poems every since I was in my fourth year of elementary school. My fourth grade teacher read us a certain type of poem called a Haiku. I was fascinated by the fact that I could write a poem that did not have to rhyme. That initiated my interest in poetry and led me to investigate the many styles and forms. I soon began to write more poems, and found my own style of how to write them.
As I became older, my poems drifted more towards love than anything. I began to express my feelings on paper, rather than expressing them verbally. Writing became more easier, and more frequent to the point where I had three and four binders of poems in my possession that I have written. But it wasn’t until my senior year in high school that I even thought about trying to get them published.
I began to compile all of the poems that I felt would show how I felt about love and what it really meant to me. The more I sorted through my poems, the more I saw the reality of them all. The reality was that love is far more complicated than it seems. Yet you have never experienced life, until you have come to the realization of the true value and meaning of love.
